Awesome Tie and Dye Sarees Online

Awesome Tie and Dye Sarees Online:
Tie and dye refers to a process of dyeing of fabrics in a way that certain portions covered by resists or bindings do not acquire the dye colour during the colouring process. In other words, the dye is prevented from penetrating portions that are not meant to be coloured, thereby acquiring the design or pattern through the non-coloured portions. This pattern becomes visible when the weaving of the carefully arranged threads on warp and weft takes place. An age old tradition, it has survived till this day as one of the oldest, finest and most widely used techniques the world over. India is one of the leading countries in the use of the tie and dye method for fabrics.

The fabric is tied tightly at various points and then the dyeing takes place. This causes non-penetration of dye in the tied places. Names given are Lehriya, Mothda, Ekdali and Mashru for the manner of tying and subsequent emerging of patterns evolves. The tie and dye technique can be classified as single ikat - where either the warp or the weft is tied and dyed, double ikat - where both the warp and weft are individually tied and dyed. Single ikat is mostly used with double-ikat only at two or three places in India. The states of Gujarat and Rajasthan are most noted for the wide application of this traditional art. Dyes used for the process are vat dyes, direct dyes, napthol dyes and procion dyes, each having their merits and drawbacks for a range of fabrics.
