Wavy Patterns of Leheria Prints – A Fashionable Wears of Women
Leheria Sarees have their origin in Rajasthan, India. Leheria is a style of saree with wavy patterns woven by tie & dye practices.  These saris are produced from in and around cities of Rajasthan like Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Pali, Udaipur, Sikar, Barmer and others.

The most enticing attire of a woman is a six yards saree, which displays the women’s elegance. There are wide range of varieties and draping styles of a saree in India. Interest is paid by every woman to wear Leheria designs, because they are renowned for their uniqueness.
Leheria is a zigzag pattern that was stripped with irregular colors. It was patronized by the local traders of Rajasthan and its other cities in the earlier Nineteenth and twentieth century. Leheria are brightly colored cloths with distinctive patterns. The weavers of Leheria uses tie & die methods to produce complex wavy patterns.

Tie & dye also called as the art of Bandhani in Rajasthan. Specific to the regions, tie & dye varies with different motifs, designs and colors. Bhandhani or bandhej is a technique of tying and dyeing a fabric to weave the pattern. To prevent spilling of colors or coloring of the tied areas, the fabric is tied in small and big knots and then dipped into the dye.
By this process, the weaver creates different colorful circles and squares of all sizes on the pattern. By keeping the final pattern or design in the mind, the weaver can repeat this process several times and can use new shades for dyeing. Dyeing always starts with lighter shades and ends with darker shades. And after each successive dyeing, the cloth used for weaving the pattern is untied and dried.

A technique is used by the weavers for dyeing Leheria. Usually Silk or Cotton or handloom cloths are used for dyeing Leheria saree. In Leheria, the fabric will be diagonally rolled from one end to the opposite. And the weavers will use to tie the fabric at required intervals of time and then dyes it. Before dyeing, weavers will fold that fabric broadly or widely for resulting wavy patterns. Now days, a small portion of fabric is unrolled by the weavers to display the pattern.
Mothara is another technique of Leheria which is produced by additional dyeing. Here, the fabric is re-rolled and tied to the opposite diagonal and the original resists are removed. This results in checkered patterns with some small undyed areas. It looks like a leguminous plant, so that it was named as a Mothara.

Vegetable dyes are used by the weavers in ancient days for weaving a design, but today chemical dyes became popular. It is easy to weave a pattern by using chemical dyes and weavers are creating different designs and patterns easily by making use of these dyes.
There are different patterns or designs in Leheria like mountain patterns, swirling patterns, tear shaped patterns and circle-square patterns with dominant colors like yellow, red, pink, green and blue with unique variations. With color resist dyeing technique, Leheria is distinguished by natural and ripple effects with dominant colors.
